I just noticed that my profile wasn't set up right (whoops!) Nov 20 2008 My family and I live in Carmel, Indiana. It's a really nice place to live. That might be because you get the benefits of being by the big city of Indy, yet we can be in the country in 5 minutes and all calm of the wonderful Hooiser country life. We are thrilled at the response to the idea of hosting a National John George Overmyer Family Reunion here in the Hooiser state! I continue to be surprised by the snowball effect this idea has taken on. The only person I've ever met that had the name Overmyer (actually in their name) was my late grandmother, Helen Overmyer Mason. So I'm looking forward to being with cousins that might have the name Overmyer. I've tracked grandma Helen's family and she has about 150 descendants. She had no male siblings so all of us go by a bunch of names. Great-grandfather Jesse Lorenzo Overmyer moved to the Western part of the United States around 1918. He settled in Northern Utah. On July 23, 1923 Jesse Overmyer received a copy of the Overmyer History and Genealogy (1905 edition) from his cousin A. W. Overmyer. a congressman from Fremont, Ohio. My great-grandfather treasured and cherished this book the rest of his life. Recently, I inherited it from my mom Mae Mason Hansen. That single event began is what really brought about the idea to organize a modern reunion. If you come to the reunion in July 2009. . .I'll tell you the rest of the story. Let's communicate in 2008! Sincerely, Bruce S. Hansen, National Overmyer Reunion 2009 Check out this link inside this Overmyer website : Commicating Ideas
