I want to take just a min. and Thank those who have sent in recipes..... I really have thought about some of the things that we all cook in our day to day cooking and realize that we all use our Descendant's way of cooking from putting milk and vinegar together to make sour milk or rice and milk with cinnamon for a quick breakfast.... I don't think that I can ever do milk and bread for a nice breakfast but I remember my grandmother Helen Mason Overmyer doing just that.... So you still have time to get your thoughts together and send in those recipes "HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU"

ATTENTION ALL OVERMYER COUSINS! Please feel free to download the attachment at the bottom of the home page. Copy it as much as you like and mail from coast-to-coast if you need to. If you live in a heavily Overmyer populated community print some up for the church, school, and library note board. Email it to death. Good luck!

DON’T MISS OUT! SEND YOUR MATERIALS NOW.
MAKE SURE YOUR ANCESTORS ARE PROPERLY REMEMBERED Thanks so much to all those Overmyer descendants who have sent materials for the Overmyer Family History Book 2009. The book is shaping up to be a truly fascinating collection of biographies, photos and stories. Make sure that your family is included. This book will be handed down for generations to come. Take the time now to preserve your family history for your children and grandchildren. If you know of any Overmyer descendants, both living and dead, who have notable achievements, have done family research, have served or are now serving in the military or in the clergy, please contact me. We want to make sure these people are recognized. If you have any of the following, please send them to me at overmac@comcast.net 1) Interesting family stories or anecdotes. (We may edit as necessary) 2) Photos of descendants in military uniform, both living and dead 3) Old time photos of the ancestors, particularly from the 1800’s and early 1900’s If you really can’t get this together in time by Dec. 1, please contact me and let me know that you are working to get the materials together. I need to make final editing decisions soon and must get all the materials together in order to proceed to publication. Thanks so much. Larry Overmire Genealogist and Family Historian

ANNOUNCING THE UPCOMING PUBLICATION OF -- THE OVERMYER FAMILY HISTORY, 2009
Over the past ten years that I have been researching the Overmire/Overmyer etc. family tree, putting in thousands of hours tracing ALL of the descendants (including the female lines) of the immigrant Capt. John George, many people have urged me to write and publish a book on the Overmyer Family history. With the Overmyer Family Reunion coming up, I thought this would be a good time to undertake such a book and share with the family some of the exciting stories in our family tradition. Request for submissions!! I already have a lot of material, but if you have biographies, photos, stories, etc. of your Overmyer ancestors and relatives, please send them. Note: sending materials does not guarantee their inclusion in the book. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Dec. 1, 2008 HOW TO SUBMIT 1) Attach photos, documents in an email to this address: overmac@comcast.net or if you would like to send materials by postal mail, let me know and I will send you my mailing address. Please put “Overmyer Family Book Submission” as the subject of the email. (Please do not send HUGE photo files. Try to keep them under 2 MB.) 2) Please include the following statement: “I give Laurence Overmire permission to publish the enclosed materials, and to edit, quote or rewrite as necessary.” Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number in case I need to get back to you. 3) If including supporting documents from other publications (histories, obituaries, etc), please cite the source: author, publisher, date, page, etc. Contributors to the book will not receive payment, but will receive acknowledgement in the book. Contact me for more information. Best regards, Laurence (Larry) Overmire Genealogist and Family Historian http://home.comcast.net/~overmirepoetry/site/

Dear Overmyer Cousins:
As a member of the Sons of the Americn Revolution, I assist prospective members with their applications. In fact, I was awarded a SAR medal on 07 Jul 2008 at the SAR's National Congress in Sacramento for recruiting the most new members into the Society for 2007. I do all the research and prepare the application, and do not charge for my services. I offer this same service to all male descendants of Captain John George Overmyer. Contact me if you are interested in joining the SAR, and I'll answer all your questions. One can join at any age, and there are deep discounts for more than one family member joining at the same time. Application fees and first year's dues range from $100 for the first family member, down to $30 for those under 18 (Youth Registrant with no annual dues). Each person receives a beautiful certificate showing Captain John George Overmier's name as the patriot and the descendant's name as the new member. I think this would be a great tribute to our Patriot ancestor Captain John George Overmier for all the males attending the 2009 reunion to be a member of the SAR. Even if you can't attend, you will become a member of a very proud, patriotic organization that 17 of our presidents have joined. Sorry, I don't do DAR applications, but I can help the females find a nearby DAR chapter which will help them in their application process. I look forward to hearing from each of you. I'm descended from JGO's daughter Maria, who married Peter Witmer, another Revolutionary War patriot for whom we had a grave marking ceremony in Ohio a few years ago. See: http://www.netpluscom.com/~kkaufman/PeterWitmerDedication/peter_witmer_dedication.htm. That's me in my Revolutionary War uniform in the first picture. Yours in Patriotic Service, Col. Larry P. Cornwell, USAF-Ret. Registrar, General Richard Montgomery Chapter Alabama Society, SAR

This past weekend I talked with a few Overmyer family members from Rochester, Indiana. Everyone in the area with the Overmyer name is related to John George Overmyer . It was exciting! Jack Overmyer, a respected journalist in the area, gave me a lot of encouragement. He told me that in Richland Township, there is an old saying. . . "To live here you either are an Overmyer, or you're married to one". At the sesquicentennial celebration of the city of Rochester, Mr. Overmyer was invited to give a speech, where covered the brief history of the area. Who are you finding to contact and encourage them to join are reunion discussion and focus? Let's communicate in 2008. . .so we'll make it happen in 2009!
