Today (21 Aug 2009), I received a "Google Alert" that three copies are available. I have no financial interest in these.

Thank you Michael for writing a delightful poem about your reunion experience. I continue to be amazed at the huge response we are receiving from family about the reunion experience. Truly we arrived at the reunion strangers, and now so many of us feel like we have new brothers and sisters. I am humbled by the miracle that happened on the three greatest days of July I will ever know.

Thank you all for such an inspiring time. What an amazing experience to find so many unknown relatives. My sister and I are of the George, John George, John George,John Michael, Michael, Hiram, Ulysses S. G., Arthur Nathan branch. We grew up in the house in Fort Wayne, In. that Ulysses built in the 1930s. My niece, her husband and two children continue to live and care for our "homestead". The book is moving around the family and we are all waiting to learn more about our esteemed relatives. Thank you all for what you are doing and looking forward to more time with you all in the future Peg (Margaret) Overmyer Smith, Charlotte, North Carolina

I come from John George Overmyer's side of the family. He fought in the Revolutionary War. I'm researching my family tree & wanted to know if anybody else comes from John's side?

Starting a couple days after the historic 2009 Overmyer National Reunion, the record is already being written on a number of levels. The Fulton County Historical Society has already created a file in their vast museum collection to preserve our special three day gathering and celebration. That means many generations from now your descendants will be able to connect themselves, through you to their Overmyer heritage. They'll be able to see that you made the journey to the reunion. The Fulton County historian has also started a collection of artifacts to document this moment in our modern history.

Thanks to Bruce Hansen, his entire family and the 2009 Overmyer Family Reunion Committee, the Overmyer Reunion was a resounding success!
From start to finish, this was an amazing weekend we will all remember for many years to come. Overmyers from all over the country gathered together to enjoy all manner of activities including a tour of historic sites, an ice cream social, splendid entertainment with singing and dancing, a moving and deeply spiritual Sunday memorial service at the Richland Center church, and several delicious meals, including an unforgettable hog roast meal in the barn at the Overmyer Family Hometead in Burr Oak! We all enjoyed one another's company, shared family stories and reveled in our proud heritage, remembering the lives of our ancestors who preceded us while renewing and celebrating the enduring relationships that continue to enrich our lives today.
Thank you, Bruce, for having the vision and wherewithal to bring us all together once again - after more than 100 years. We are all deeply appreciative of what you have accomplished.

Our cousin Dr. Pamela Gerali gave a wonderful tribute to all the Overmyer women. It was a special message that spoke to the heart of heritage as a family. It's just wonderful that we can enjoy the timelessness of these inspiring thoughts.

To Bruce and everyone associated with the planning and conducting this successful family reunion:
I know the huge amount of effort that went into your efforts, and I offer my congratulations on a job well done!
I regret that Leanne and I couldn't have spent more time with you all, but there will hopefully be other occasions. My Revolutionary War soldier uniform was certainly a conversation-starter, and I was happy to play a small part in making the reunion a memorable occasion for all. I would be most grateful if those of you who took digital pictures of me with members of your family would e-mail me a copy, and of course identify those in the pictures. My e-mail address is LaCornwell@aol.com.
In the meantime, I'm busy preparing applications for the Overmyer cousins who expressed interest in joining the Sons of the American Revolution. Anyone interested in learing more about the SAR can go to www.sar.org, or write me with your questions. I will be honored to sponsor you into the Society, and even help place you in a SAR chapter near you if you wish. Just write to me to get the process started.
Yours in Patriotic Service,
Cousin Larry P. Cornwell Montgomery, AL

I would like to say thank you so much for all your effort and love that went into this reunion. I laughed and cried many times in those three days. It was more then I expected and I will always have this memory of meeting family new and old.......I am looking forward to meeting again and have taken Larry's advice and started writing down my own personal journal to leave for my ancestors to read and enjoy......Love you all cousins....Amy Yakim

Hello,
I just realized those of us teaching workshops will not be able to attend the others. I will make a packet of materials from mine for each of the presenters and would appreciate materials from others if you would be so kind. They are all such interesting topics.

A couple of days ago I snapped this picture looking out toward the graves of Levi and Rosanna Overmyer. They had 13 children and by 1905 only four had survived. Some of their children are buried to the right and left of them. Earlier this year the large family monument was reset on new footings. We will be rededicating this main family marker (for Levi & Rosanna) as part of the memorial ceremonies on the last date of the national reunion, July 26, 2009.

I spent a couple hours recently (I forgot to update date on camera) visiting the small village of Leiter's Ford, Indiana. I met the current owners of Dr. Benjamin Overmyer's home. When I asked them if I could take a picture of their home they readily agreed. They were very nice folks. Even though they were in the middle of a landscaping project they moved the tractor, SUV, and implements so I could have a nice photo. The stones in the porch posts, came from local farmers who traded these field stones for payment of medical services rendered by Dr. Overmyer.

Mary, Thanks for adding the photo. I just received the same photo from Phil Overmyer of Argos, Indiana. I like how you have identified a few of the folks. The woman to the right of Donna is her mother-law (wife of Loyd). Loyd's father is on the backrow, forth from the right. I'll find the note I made of Loyd's folks names. By the way, cousin Phil has a huge collection of Overmyer photo's he is bringing to the reunion to invite folks to help him identify who the people are. One of reunion service projects. It's exciting to see cousins sharing in this historical opportunity!

Yes Phil and I talked about the fact that we both had the same picture! I do have one or two more reunion photos. But they are not marked. Maybe I can send them to Phil and he can put them with his collection to get Identified. Thanks for the extra info on some others in the picture iI will have to put their names in there too! I am not sure if I will make it to the reunion. Thanks again and iI am glad everyone is enjoying the pic.
